Elisa Chinn-Gary Receives Julius L. Chambers Diversity Champion Award
 
News imageThe Mecklenburg County Bar Diversity and Inclusion Committee has announced that the Julius L. Chambers Diversity Champion Award, which celebrates persons in our community who have advanced the cause of diversity and equal opportunity, will be presented to Elisa Chinn-Gary at the McMillan Fund Dinner on Feb. 27, 2014.

Elisa Chinn-Gary has led the Family Court Division of Mecklenburg County since 2001. Recipient of the 2010 Raising the Bar Award, she was honored by the Judiciary and Justice Initiatives for her excellence in Court Administration. Elisa earned a Master of Social Work and Juris Doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was admitted to the North Carolina State Bar in 1999. She is a leader in building and strengthening Race Matters for Juvenile Justice, a collaboration of judicial officials, systems' experts, service providers and community partners who have set an agenda to reduce the disproportionate representation of and disparate outcomes for children and families of color in the juvenile justice system.
