Young lawyers before the Federal Bar

(Raleigh) Six legal clerks from the North Carolina Court of Appeals are now officially able to practice as attorneys in the Federal Courts within our state.

A special swearing-in is required for attorneys who wish to appear in the Eastern, Middle and Western Districts of the Federal Court in North Carolina, the Fourth District Federal Court in Richmond, Va. and the United States Supreme Court in Washington, DC. Any licensed attorney in the state may appear before the Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of North Carolina without a swearing in.

U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle took time from his busy schedule to welcome and swear-in the new attorneys as they were sponsored and presented before the federal bench by North Carolina Court of Appeals Judges J. Douglas McCullough and John M. Tyson.

In the photo are (L to R) Court of Appeals Judge Doug McCullough and his clerks Tom Wilson and Brad Krehely, Susan Hackney, law clerk for Chief Judge of the N.C. Court of Appeals Judge John Martin, U.S. District Judge Terrence W. Boyle, Eastern District of N.C., Kristi Bellamy, clerk for Judge Wanda Bryant, Martin Warf, clerk for Judge Richard Elmore, Fred Parker, IV, clerk for Judge John M. Tyson and Judge John Tyson of the state Court of Appeals.

The ceremony took place in the Terry Sanford Federal building and Courthouse in Raleigh.
