Adverse Weather Information

Wake County AOC Employees

In the event of adverse weather, AOC employees working in Wake County other than those working in courthouses should follow local broadcast news media. Any notice in the media that public schools in Wake County are closed due to adverse weather is notice to all AOC employees that the AOC adverse weather policy is in effect. Employees should call AOC's main Information Line at 919-890-1000. This will be updated regularly and as needed during an adverse weather event.

Under these circumstances AOC offices shall remain open; however, if an employee determines that it is not safe to travel to their workstation they will be allowed to make up the missed work time or take appropriate leave as indicated in the adverse weather policy. If an employee decides it is not safe to travel they should make attempts to advise their manager.

Those employees who have been deemed as "essential" by the AOC are expected to adhere to the essential employee policy.

When adverse weather is determined to be a catastrophic event as defined in the Adverse Weather Policy, the AOC will determine how missed work time will be treated.
For more information please see the AOC Human Resources Management Manual, Section 5H: Adverse Weather Policy.
