The Financial Services Division oversees the $347,361,291 budget for the North Carolina court system. The third branch of government receives less than three percent of the total state government budget. Financial Services is responsible for issuing paychecks to court personnel. They also allocate funds for a variety of legislatively required programs such as the Indigent Defense Services, special counsel for the mentally ill, and the N.C. Business Court. Funds for such things as equipment replacement, courtroom wiring, and audio equipment come from the General Assembly to the Financial Services Division. Utilities, equipment repairs, travel expenses and supplies are all paid through Financial Services.
