The documents below identify offenses for which court appearance is mandatory, versus offenses for which the defendant may make a written appearance, waive the right to trial, and plead guilty or responsible before a clerk of superior court or magistrate, upon payment of the applicable fine/penalty and court costs.

Waivers may be made in person before the clerk or magistrate in the county where the case is pending, to the clerk of that county by mail, or online at www.payNCticket.org.

Open the appropriate list (for your offense) to see if your offense is waivable or whether you must appear in court. Unless otherwise noted, the lists below are effective for offenses committed on or after December 1, 2012.
