The Commission certifies mediation training programs. All certifed programs have been carefully screened to insure that their content complies with Rules and Guidelines adopted by the Commission and NC Supreme Court. Use the menu at the left to see lists of trainers.
MSC Rule 8.A. requires all applicants for superior court certification to complete a 40 training program on basic mediation skills, except that mediators who are certified in North Carolina to conduct family financial mediations, may complete a 16-hour course in lieu of the full 40-hour program. Non-attorney applicants are also required to complete a six-hour course in NC court structure, legal terminology and civil procedure. Attorney applicants who arelicensed in other states will be required to complete an independent study of NC court structure, legal terminology and civil procedure.
