Other Mediation Resources

Other Mediation and other forms of dispute resolution operate both within and without the courts.

As a public service, the Commission is providing contact and other information about some of the more prominent programs operating in North Carolina and that are not supported by this Commission:

  • The North Carolina Industrial Commission’s Workers’ Compensation Mediation Program. The Industrial Commission’s Program mediates disputes relating to workplace injuries or illnesses.
  • Community Mediation. Community mediation centers mediate an array of cases across North Carolina, including, but not limited to misdemeanor criminal matters in our courts, Medicaid disputes referred by the Office of Administrative Hearings, and private “walk-in disputes” between and among members of the local communities and regions they serve.  Center services are affordable and typically available on a sliding scale.
  • Child Custody and Visitation Mediation Program. This Program operates in North Carolina’s district courts and is supported by the North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts (NCAOC).
