This district court program is designed to assist parents in resolving disputes relating to the custody and visitation of their children. (This program should not be confused with the district court's Family Financial Settlement Program (sometimes referred to as ED Mediation) which focuses on the resolution of financial issues arising in the context of a divorce or a post-divorce modification, including issues such as division of marital property and debts, child support and alimony.) Support for the NC Child Custody and Visitation Mediation Program is provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC). Those with questions about how to become qualified or hired to mediate custody and visitation disputes in the courts or about how the program operates, should address his/her questions to Stephanie Smith at (919) 890-1220 or Stephanie.C.Smith@nccourts.org.
