Administrative Traffic Court in Wake County
Wake county, district 10, trial courts
Administrative Traffic Court is designed to dispose of infractions and minor traffic offenses quickly while giving attendees flexible hours to attend.
Administrative Traffic Court is held each Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday in courtroom 2A, located on the 2nd floor of the courthouse. The hours are from 7:45a.m. until 3:30p.m.; a person scheduled in this courtroom may appear at any time during those hours. Please note that 7:45a.m. until 8:30a.m. is generally the busiest time of the day.
Upon arriving on the 2nd floor on the date of your scheduled court appearance, you must sign in with the clerk stationed outside of courtroom 2A. If the clerks are not in the lobby, enter courtroom 2A and check in with the district attorney. At that point you will be instructed to wait inside the courtroom until the assistant district attorney calls your name. He/she will speak with you about your case before you are called before the judge. Trials are not held in this courtroom; therefore, if you want to be tried for an infraction, you must appear on your initial date and make a motion for a continuance so that the officer who issued the citation can be subpoened for a later date.
