Chief District Court Judge J. Stanley Carmical

The Honorable J. Stanley Carmical, a native of Robeson County, has served as a District Court Judge since 1989. He was named Chief District Court Judge in April 2002. Judge Carmical received his B.A. degree from Wake Forest University in 1977 and his J.D. degree from the University of North Carolina in 1980. Judge Carmical obtained an advanced certification to hear juvenile cases in 1995. Judge Carmical served as the President of the N.C. Association of District Court Judges in 2004. Judge Carmical currently serves as President of the N.C. Conference of Chief District Court Judges. Prior to being elected as a District Court Judge, he engaged in private practice.
