Project Turn Around
 
Project Turn Around is a support-based program designed to provide an alternative to incarceration for first time drug offenders and to keep participants from committing a second drug or drug related offense. The diversion program enables participants to overcome drug dependent lifestyles and to contribute to the community in a positive manner.

Most offenders are referred to the program through the District Attorney's Office, but they may also be referred by Judges, Public Defenders, and private attorneys or they may be self referred.

To be eligible for program participation, an individual must be a first time offender who is at least 16 years old, have been involved in crimes of a non-violent nature, and have a documented substance abuse problem.

Once referred, Project Turn Around provides screenings for eligibility, participant assessment, referrals, and monitoring.

Individuals are mandated to participate in the program for 6 months to 1 year. Upon its successful completion, charges against the offender are dismissed by the state and later expunged from the record.

Project Turn Around's director is Bill Cozart.
