- The Domestic Violence Shelter located in New Hanover County at (910) 343-0703 is available for shelter, consultation for victims of violence and abuse, and other services. The Shelter can also refer you to other sources of assistance. The New Hanover County Department of Social Services is available for financial assistance in some cases. Call (910) 341-4700 for an appointment. Legal Services of the Lower Cape Fear is also available for some legal assistance at (910) 763-4954 or 1-800-672-9304. Some additional legal information may be available through Legal Access for Women at (910) 762-7886.
- A civil domestic violence protective order may be available to you through the Office of Clerk of Superior Court of New Hanover County. Information packets with forms are available from 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Clerk's Office. The Clerk's Office is located on the second (street-level) floor of the Courthouse. If you have been sexually assaulted, you should contact the Rape Crisis Center through Crisis Line at (910) 392-6936 or at (910) 392-7460, and outside of the Wilmington area at 1-800-672-2903. The Domestic Violence Shelter can also be reached through these telephone numbers. Other services may be available to you through St. Mary's Church in Wilmington. Counseling services may be further available through Family Services at (910) 392-7051.
