Superior Court Process

Arraignments are held during administrative weeks to determine whether defendants have counsel, whether there are motions to hear, and how they intend to plead.

In New Hanover County one week each month is dedicated to administrative matters such as guilty pleas and motions and three weeks are dedicated to trials.

In New Hanover County jurors are summoned to report on either a Monday or Wednesday to prevent citizens from spending an entire week in court unless they are selected to serve on a jury.
