The Mecklenburg County Interpreter Management Program utilizes the Administrative Office of the Court's Motion, Appointment and Order Authorizing Payment of Interpreter or Other Accommodation (AOC-G-107) in addition to the below local forms.

Interpreter Requests - All requests should be submitted to the Interpreter Manager either by fax (704-686-0340) or by e-mail, at least 48 hours prior to the date an accommodation or interpreter is needed.

• Request for Communications Accessibility - Use this form when requesting an American Sign Language interpreter, assistive listening device or any other ADA accommodation. ADA accommodation requests can be made for both civil and criminal matters.



• Request for Foreign Language Interpreter - Use this form when requesting a foreign language interpreter (i.e., Spanish, Korean, Russian, Hmong, Vietnamese, etc.). The interpreter will be provided at Judicial Branch expense and permitted to submit a motion for payment (AOC-G-107) only in the following instances:
1. Criminal Cases. All non-English speaking (NES) defendants will be provided with a Court-approved interpreter at their first appearance. A Court-approved interpreter will also be provided at subsequent appearances to indigent NES defendants.
2. Juvenile and Custody Mediation Proceedings.
3. Civil Domestic Violence (50-B Hearings)
4. Involuntary Commitment Proceedings.

In all other instances, the parties or litigants must bear the cost of a foreign language interpreter.
