North Carolina law provides for compensation of citizens who appear for jury service. Jurors will receive $12.00 for the first day they are required to report and do report for jury service and $20.00 per day for days two through five. On the rare occasion when a jury trial lasts longer than five days, the juror's payment is increased to $40.00 per day as of the 6th day.
It is mandatory that persons reporting for jury service provide the Court with their current address in order to process their jury service payments.
If desired, jurors may donate their payment back to the State of North Carolina. They should notify the Jury Coordinator if they choose to exercise this option.
