Movie Library

Movies are shown daily in the main Jury Assembly Room for jurors' entertainment while waiting to be called into a courtroom. Generally, the morning movie begins at 10:00 a.m. and ends around lunchtime, and the afternoon movie begins at 2:00 p.m. and runs to around 4:00 p.m. The Courtside Café provides free popcorn for jurors to enjoy during the afternoon movie. The movies provide a nice distraction and an alternative to daytime television, since jurors are limited as to what they can watch while serving: jurors cannot watch any local channels or news while in the Jury Assembly Room.

Every effort is made to ensure the movies are of a generally appealing nature to all audiences. Only movies rated G, PG, or PG-13 are ever shown in the Jury Assembly Room. These movies are unedited, however, and we have no way to edit them at this time, so there may be a word or two of profanity in some of these movies. R-rated movies are never shown. It is important to note that jurors can choose not to watch these movies. While waiting to be called into a courtroom, jurors may also sit in the Quiet Room, where no movies and television programs are played. The movies have been donated by court personnel and former jurors. We welcome donations of other audience-appropriate movies on VHS or DVD to add to this collection. Many citizens who have previously served as jurors have said that the movies made their wait in the Jury Assembly Room much more enjoyable. It is our objective to ensure a pleasant experience as citizens fulfill a vital role in the courts and our community.
