Mecklenburg county, district 26, Family Court, volunteers
The Family Court has entered an agreement with the North Carolina Department of Crime Control and Public Safety to participate in its Community Service Work Program. Through the program, offenders that are sentenced to complete community service hours are referred to the Family Court to assist with clerical and administrative tasks.
The Community Service Work Program staff interviews the offender to assess the education level, skills, current offense and criminal history and refers only those offenders who fit the narrow criteria defined by the Family Court.
The Family Court has benefited greatly from its partnership with the Community Service Work Program. Participants in the Community Service work program have assisted with data entry, general clerical work, and have provided foreign language translation services.
