Deferred from Jury Service

The Court realizes prospective jurors may be summoned at an inconvenient time and is willing to defer service to a more convenient time in most instances. A prospective juror may only have jury service postponed once. There are no exceptions.

Anyone requesting deferment will be sent a notice in the near future of their next reporting date. It is important to note that the prospective juror will be required to serve at that time. A prospective juror will not be eligible to be excused from jury service or to have his/her jury service date postponed again.

To request a deferment or excuse you may telephone the Jury Clerk at (910) 814-4570 or you may address your application to:

Harnett County Clerk of Superior Court
301 W. Cornelius Harnett Blvd., Suite 100
Lillington, NC 27546

You will be notified of the Judge's decision. However, if you have not been notified, you are responsible for contacting the Clerk's office to obtain the decision.
