Domestic Violence

It is the position of the District Attorney that the aggressive prosecution of domestic violence cases will ultimately reduce the significant number of homicides, spousal rapes, aggravated assaults, and related crimes that are presently attributed to escalating cycles of domestic violence. Violent behavior in the home or in intimate relationships is criminal behavior and will not be tolerated or minimized in Durham County. It is the policy of the District Attorney that charges of domestic violence will not be dismissed if evidence is available to support prosecution.

James E. Hardin, Jr.
District Attorney
