If you choose to represent yourself and appear in court, you should be prepared to pay any and all court costs and fines in full by cash, certified check, or money order on your court date. The court does not accept personal checks or credit cards.
If you choose to represent yourself and do not wish to appear in court, you may pay by mail, by online transaction at www.payncticket.org, or appear before the Clerk of Court before the scheduled court date to pay the respective fine and court costs.
If you choose to appear before the Clerk of Court prior to your scheduled court date, the normal business hours for the Clerk's Office are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Criminal and Traffic records and the Clerk's Cashier's Office are on the 1st floor of the Durham County Courthouse.
If you choose to pay by mail, you must sign the back of the citation and send a certified check or money order payable to the Clerk of Court. Do not send personal checks or cash by mail. The total amount due will appear on the back of the citation.
WARNING!
Payment online, by mail or before the Clerk of Court will constitute a plea of guilty or admission of responsibility to the charged offense and will impact your driver's license points and potentially your insurance rates.
