Family Court in Wayne County
The Eighth Judicial District has implemented a Family Court Program in order to develop, establish, and coordinate internal and external preventive and educational programs for families in crisis. Family Court operates programs that meet the diverse needs of our district's children and their families - programs that provide new ways to cope with and resolve conflict beyond the scope of the traditional courtroom approach.

Family service programs have been developed in collaboration with agencies and local volunteers whose common goals are to build strong families, produce more effective parents, and reduce the risk to children. Services are offered to address the needs of the family, encompassing both children and parents, such as parenting skills, issues of substance abuse, domestic violence, anger management, supervised visitation and life skills, as well as information on navigating through the court system.

Services are beneficial, convenient, and accessible to the community. Family Court uses electronically shared information systems to screen and evaluate cases and decrease bureaucracy within agencies. The aim of Family Court is to respond more quickly to specific needs of the family unit. The Eighth Judicial District's Family Court is dedicated to resolving juvenile and domestic cases in an expedient, economical, and therapeutic manner.
