Conference Goal

To provide participants with information to strengthen their knowledge of legal, judicial and service issues related to child welfare and juvenile courts.

Who should attend

Collaborative teams from Court Improvement Project (CIP) and Child and Family Services Review (CFSR) districts 1, 7, 15A, 17A, 17B, 19A, 21, 22A, 22B, 23, 25, and 26. The teams will be led by the Chief District Court Judge and/or a Juvenile Court Judge and comprised of, Child Welfare Agency Director; Child Welfare Agency and Parent Attorneys, Attorney Advocate (GAL attorney), the Guardian ad Litem District Administrator, the Family Court Administrator and the CIP Director.

A sample of workshops includes

  • Adoption Assistance

  • Understanding MEPA and ICWA

  • Using video Testimony in AND cases

  • Child safety and court proceedings

  • Ethical decision making

  • What's expected by Court of Appeals after a remand

CJE/CLE Credits

CJE/CLE credits will be available. Attendees will be required to sign in at each session attended and will receive credit accordingly. Participants are responsible for submitting payment for CLE hours to the NC State Bar.
